Per Tim Williams at Pirates Prospects, the Pirates have agreed to terms with their 16th round pick Max Moroff. Moroff will receive a signing bonus of $300K, in which $200K will count against the Pirates’ draft pool.
Moroff had a pretty strong commitment to UCF. Williams reported earlier that the two sides were close, but that Moroff was going to go to college if Pittsburgh did not increase their offer. I guess they did.
Moroff is a prep shortstop out of Trinity Prep in Florida. The $300K bonus is the highest given to any Pirate draftee after the first three rounds.
