According to Sosnick Cobbe Sports (Originally posted at Bucs Dugout), RHP Adrian Sampson has signed his deal with the Pirates. Sampson was the Pirates’ 5th round selection and was rated by Baseball America as the 84th best prospect heading into the draft.
Sampson is a RHP from Bellevue Community College who had a commitment to play for Oregon next year. He possesses a 90ish mph fastball that can sometimes make it’s way into the mid 90′s. He will head to State College to begin his pro career.
Slot value for Sampson’s pick was $252,100, but it is not yet known what he signed for.
